Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The role will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
Maintain strict confidentially of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
May assist with different basic administrative tasks - photocopy activities, greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc. as required.
May keep a log of different activities.
Assists in the organization, Maintenance:, and general cleanliness of the office/waiting area.
Provide general information to visitors.
Collaborate with Community Ministries Manager to ensure effective program delivery
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Clarification of Information. Conducts Routine Interactions.
Internal: MU's leadership and staff, donors, volunteers.
External: Clients, donors, general public, social services organizations, service clubs

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the Community Services Manager.
Direct reports: Community Services Manager

FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:
Minor material responsibility ( proper file handling, etc.)
Regular responsibility for minor financial matters and for wise use of own resources.
May be authorized to handle cash, during major campaigns.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a temporary position.

Regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch break.

Working environment is typically in the Community Services building in generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor duties.

Local travel may be required.

Flexibility in scheduling isrequired, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.Some work over weekends and evenings may be required.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
May deal with upset people or challenging behaviours.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of a formal post-secondary program of two academic years
An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.

Experience and Knowledge:
Two years of relevant experience
Experience in office administration

Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

Skills and Capabilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.

Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting;attention to detail, problemsolvingand analytical skills.

Ability tomaintain information inconfidence and exercise good judgement.

Exhibit good listening skills, havestrong oral/written communication skills.

This is a temporary fixed term employment.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
