The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a highly qualified individual with outstanding communication and strong leadership skills. This position holds a critical first-line supervisory role overseeing TCU staff operations, training, and performance. This role requires knowledge of sentencing laws to ensure the accuracy and legal integrity of time-sensitive inmate release processes and sentencing data, preventing errors, liberty interest violations, and litigation. Interprets multi-jurisdictional sentencing orders, conducts daily audits of inmate sentencing upon intake to ADCRR, manages daily work flows, and monitors staff performance. Acts as the primary contact for County Superior Courts to verify documentation validity and responds to complex inquiries from legal representatives, law enforcement agencies, and the public.
Job Duties:
- Provides first-line direct supervision, including conducting training, work performance evaluations, corrective actions, and tracking of work production and quality levels
- Supervises leave requests and working hours
- Responsible for a wide variety of complex time computation functions and administrative tasks, including generating correspondence and reports
- Receives, tracks, and responds to inquiries
- Reads, interprets, and understands warrants issued
- Ensures assignments and completions are handled appropriately and in a timely manner
- Issues initial release authorizations to units and agencies holding ADCRR inmates
- Understands that no inmate can be released from ADCRR custody/hold unless authorized by appropriate ADCRR personnel
- Assigns daily work to staff and performs follow-up actions as needed to ensure staff are meeting performance requirements and expectations
- Performs a wide variety of audits of a complex nature
- Assists staff with inquiries when necessary to provide clarification on sentencing information
- Reads, interprets, and understands court documents and applies correct sentence structure for accurate and precise release dates
- Trains and assists in the development and execution of training for Sentence Calculations, other ADCRR, court, probation, county attorney, and other law enforcement agencies' personnel/staff
- Attends staff meetings
- Answers inquiries from judges, other law enforcement agencies, jurisdictions, inmates, and inmate family members
- Ensures the provided information is accurate and eligible to be released to the requester
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws, Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), and ADCRR policies and procedures
- Rules, regulations, and time computation procedures pertaining to inmate releases
- Methods and techniques of releases and time computations
- Current and historical laws pertaining to sentence structures and court decisions to ensure accurate and timely releases from ADCRR custody/control
- Principles and practices of management and supervision
- Computer usage, peripheral equipment, and various software programs, including Microsoft Office and Google suites
- Time computation procedures
- General mathematics
- Proper English usage, including grammatical formatting, spelling, and punctuation

- Perform complex sentence calculations pursuant to state law, court decisions, and ADCRR policies
- Perform research and understand current and historical laws pertaining to sentence structures and court orders to ensure accurate and timely releases from ADCRR custody
- Work on multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously while providing a high-level of customer service
Selective Preference(s):
- Two (2) years of experience as a Time Computation lead or equivalent experience
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Candidates are required to attain Time Computation Certification through ADCRR by achieving the required passing score of 85% or higher for retention in this position.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
