Hours: full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Lynchburg VA, 24501

Compensation dependent on experience


Position Summary

The IT Network administrator is responsible for providing administration and support for agency networking devices including SDWAN routers, switches, access points, VoIP devices, and IP cameras, as well as SDWAN, WAN, LAN, and VoIP technologies. This position is also responsible for operational support, administration, installation, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
The role supports the implementation and maintenance of networks, network expansions, projects, and new technologies approved by leadership.

Education Requirements

  • Associate degree in IT, Bachelors Preferred

Types of Experience

  • 2-4 years of IT support/network experience.
    Experience with IP Office, Jira, ZenDesk and MS Visio a plus.

Credentials (Required)

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+
  • CCNA/JCNIA/FCA/ACNT or equivalent
  • Must have or obtain (during 6-month probation period) OEM Network Certification (Cisco, Fortinet, HPE, Xtreme Networks)

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • WAN topologies and technologies.
  • Understanding of operating systems (Windows).
  • Advanced understanding of networking concepts (OSI Model, ICMP, TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
  • Experience with Active Directory, group policies, and user management.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles (firewalls, antivirus, encryption).
  • Understanding of enterprise applications (Microsoft 365, SharePoint).
  • Hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices and ticketing systems (TrackIT or other comparable).
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience in remote support and desktop management tools.
  • Work independently and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize incidents effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach and a professional, enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
  • Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license. May be required to travel to different
    Horizon work sites during the day based on operational needs or provide admin support at other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites
