The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a Solution Business Manager (SBM) Software Engineer to join our enterprise operations program. This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of workflow automation solutions using the OpenText/Micro Focus Solution Business Manager (SBM) platform.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain enterprise workflow applications and process orchestrations using SBM Composer and SBM Application Administrator.
Monitor SBM server infrastructure (IIS Web Servers, SBM Services, and Database servers) to ensure high-availability and optimal performance.
Write and optimize database queries to support SBM applications, specifically utilizing Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL databases.
Develop, test, and implement custom scripting using SBM AppScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python to extend platform capabilities and customize Work Center portals.

Design, consume, and troubleshoot RESTful and SOAP web services to integrate SBM with third-party systems and external toolchains.
Plan and execute environment promotions, platform migrations, and version upgrades across Dev, Test, and Production environments using SBM Application Repository.

Integrate Active Directory (AD/LDAP), single sign-on (SSO), and security access controls within SBM applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business processes into logical flowcharts and automated workflows.
Provide direct support as a technical representative to ensure security and compliance are integrated throughout the SBM application lifecycle.
Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, deployment runbooks, and API integration guides.
Troubleshoot platform bugs, faulty scripts, and integration bottlenecks, utilizing a ticketing system to track and resolve incidents.
Stay current with ITIL, ITSM, and DevOps best practices to recommend continuous process and workflow improvements.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance. (Note: Adjust as necessary for your specific program requirements).
- Bachelor's degree in IT Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of experience.
- DOD 8140 (8570) IAT Level II (Security+ or equivalent). (Note: Adjust as necessary for your specific program requirements).
- Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, ops-focused environment.

Desired:
- Certifications in OpenText/Micro Focus SBM (Administrator or Developer).
- 3+ years of dedicated Micro Focus / OpenText SBM (formerly Serena - Business Manager) administration and application development experience.
ITIL Foundation v3/v4 Certification.
- Experience with DevOps automation tools and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Knowledge of security best practices and standards, including NIST and risk management frameworks.
- Strong analytical, script debugging, and system troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to translate business requirements into technical workflow designs.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
