Department of Surgery - Division of Burn, Trauma, Acute and Critical Care Surgery

The Division of Burn, Trauma, Acute and Critical Care Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an academic Acute Care Surgeon to join our growing team of faculty. This is an extraordinary opportunity to be part of a high-volume, nationally recognized program committed to excellence in patient care, research, and surgical education. This role will provide an opportunity for leadership to serve as Acute Care Emergency Services (ACES) Director.

Clinical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a clinical appointment within the Division and devote their clinical time to providing care at Parkland Health & Hospital System (Level I Trauma Center. William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital (a state-of-the-art tertiary care facility) and UT Southwestern's expanding Frisco campus, which serves a growing population in North Dallas and is designated as a Level III Trauma Center.

For candidates with demonstrated leadership experience, there will be opportunities to help shape the strategic direction of the acute care surgery service, including program development, quality improvement, multidisciplinary collaboration, faculty mentorship, and operational excellence across the health system.

Program Overview:
  • Over 20 university-appointed faculty providing comprehensive surgical care across four major institutions: Parkland Health, Clements University Hospital, Children's Medical Center Dallas, and Zale Lipshy Pavilion.
  • More than 4,500 operative cases performed annually, generating over 160,000 RVUs.
  • Care for over 3,500 trauma patients annually, with an integral role in a mature, regional trauma system.
  • A robust Emergency General Surgery practice performing over 3,000 emergency non-trauma operations each year.
  • An internationally recognized Burn Program performing 800+ burn operations annually, housed at one of the leading burn centers in the nation.
Research & Education:

UT Southwestern offers exceptional support for academic surgeons interested in clinical, translational, or health services research. The Division is deeply committed to surgical education and mentorship at all levels, including medical students, residents, and fellows in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Burn Surgery.

Ideal Candidates:

We are seeking candidates who are board certified/board eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, with strong clinical skills in trauma, emergency general surgery, and critical care. A passion for academic medicine, mentorship, and multidisciplinary collaboration is essential.
