Lighting Controls Technician- Prism Electric

Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and commission lighting control systems including dimmers, occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting sensors, and relay panels
  • Excellent at leading preconstruction meetings that align the team on the projects lighting control system, wiring methods, device layouts, and instillation methods.
  • Program lighting control systems from manufacturers such as Lutron, Leviton, Acuity, or similar
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system faults, wiring issues, and software/firmware problems
  • Perform system startups and walk-throughs with building owners, facility managers, and general contractors
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, and sequence of operations documents
  • Coordinate with electrical contractors, low-voltage trades, and BMS/BAS integrators
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and service calls on existing installations
  • Document system configurations, as-built drawings, and service reports
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and project specifications

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience with commercial lighting control systems
  • Valid Electrical Journeyman License (required)
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of lighting control one-line drawings and how they apply to field installation and system coordination.
  • Proficiency with at least one major lighting controls platform (Lutron, Acuity nLight, Leviton, Crestron, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, protocols such as DALI, 0-10V, DMX, and BACnet
  • Ability to read electrical and lighting control schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple job sites

Preferred Qualifications:
  • NICET certification in lighting systems or fire alarm
  • Experience with Building Automation System (BAS) integration
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Lutron SET, nLight Certified Technician)
