We serve the growing insurance and risk management needs of medium and large governmental entities and provide property and casualty insurance coverages in multiple states.
Role Overview
We are looking for a collaborative, experienced Actuarial Supervisor to lead actuarial analysis and help drive informed business decisions across multiple lines of business. This role will oversee actuarial performance reporting, provide insight into pricing and profitability, and work closely with underwriting, product management, accounting, and IT.
The Actuarial Supervisor will have a meaningful impact on product performance, financial planning, and sustainable growth. This position also provides the opportunity to lead a team, shape cross-functional initiatives, and enhance the actuarial capabilities that support the organization's long-term strategy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and recommend actuarial performance reporting by product line, including product reviews, market assessments, and financial-return objectives.
  • Lead actuarial analyses used to estimate financial outcomes and inform business strategy.
  • Provide financial input on pricing, loss ratios, expenses, and budget projections for future operating periods.
  • Build strong working relationships with underwriting, product management, accounting, and other business partners to ensure actuarial insights are integrated into decision-making.
  • Partner with IT on the strategic development and enhancement of actuarial systems, tools, and processes.
  • Develop work plans, establish priorities and timelines, allocate resources, and ensure the team meets commitments and deadlines.
  • Communicate team results, trends, and recommendations to management through clear written reports and verbal presentations.
  • Drive improvements to actuarial processes and help identify, design, and implement new, efficient business practices.
  • Assist with development of the work unit budget and manage work within established financial objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures; identify, implement, and test effective controls for the actuarial function.
  • Provide full people leadership for direct reports, including hiring recommendations, training, work coordination, performance management, coaching, and development.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • ACAS designation required; FCAS designation strongly preferred.
  • At least 6 years of progressive, relevant actuarial experience.
  • Broad knowledge of actuarial principles, practices, and procedures, with the ability to apply sound professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience with actuarial performance analysis, pricing, loss ratios, expense analysis, and financial forecasting.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex analysis and recommendations to management and non-actuarial partners.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities, with a focus on process improvement and effective business controls.
  • Awareness of industry trends, legal developments, and technical changes affecting the Company's lines of business.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and comfort with programming tools (Python a plus).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across teams.
