Job description

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Assistant Per Diem (Part-time) to help coordinate and execute events for our Assisted Living community. The Activities Assistant will assist with the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly activities that engage residents and provide enjoyable, safe experiences.

To succeed as an Activities Assistant, you should strive to engage in activities that are appealing and appropriate for the age and physical or emotional conditions of our residents. We are looking for a professional team player who can help bring joy and fun to our seniors while preserving their dignity and quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the execution, physical set-up, and staffing of in-house events and classes.
  • Activities may include Yoga classes, card games, and/or bible studies.
  • Staff off-site resident excursions in the community.
  • Assist with resident reservations and activity sign-up records.
  • Answer the phones.
  • Follow up with residents by phone or personally to confirm activity sign-up and reservations.
  • Disseminate activity schedules to residents, including monthly event postings and newsletters.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm attitude when visiting with staff and residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to assure resident rights are protected. 
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with seniors, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating group activities or recreational programs is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speak the English language.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to make independent decisions when in various circumstances.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with elderly residents, families, and staff
  • Office and administrative skills a must.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher.
  • Able to take and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Compassionate, patient, and understanding nature when interacting with residents, especially those with cognitive impairments such as dementia.
  • Team player, dedicated worker, and enjoys having fun!

Part-Time Schedule: 2 days per week. 

Starting Pay: $16.00 per hour
