The Southeast STI/HIV Prevention Training Center (SEPTC) and the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are seeking a Program Director to lead grant development and program administration across both centers. SEPTC, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and AETC, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, provide educational resources, training, and technical assistance to healthcare providers and organizations across the Southeast. Both centers are housed within the Division of Infectious Diseases at UAB. The Program Director will oversee grant writing and related funding activities for SEPTC and AETC, including proposal development, progress reports, and continuation applications. They will lead the development of training, technical assistance, and a grant-writing toolkit to build the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs), health departments, and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) throughout the region. The Program Director will also oversee administrative operations for the AETC and will work with center leadership to expand educational activities and programming across the Southeast. In addition, the Program Director will promote strategic alignment and coordination between SEPTC and AETC leadership, staff, and operational priorities, and will support the long-term sustainability of both programs. The Program Director will report to the SEPTC and AETC Principal Investigators.
General Responsibilities:
Directs operations of a programmatic function.
Operates with a high degree of independence.
Responsible for program development, content and administration.
Establishes program objectives manages programmatic fiscal activities, supervises staff engaged in carrying out program activities and may require grant writing and/or other ability to secure program funding.
Prepares various reports for program.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Promote strategic alignment and coordination between SEPTC and AETC leadership, staff, and operational priorities to support efficient and collaborative program implementation across both centers.
Oversee grant writing, proposal development, and related funding activities for the SEPTC and AETC, including federal, state, and foundation applications.
Lead preparation and submission of progress reports, continuation applications, and other funder deliverables for both centers.
Oversee execution of the SEPTC and AETC annual workplans and ensure that established benchmarks are met.
Lead restructuring of staffing models, faculty engagement, and funding streams to strengthen program security and sustainability, particularly in preparation for upcoming Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) cycles.
Design and build a grant-writing toolkit, including templates, guides, sample language, and other resources for use by CBOs, health departments, and FQHCs.
Provide training and one-on-one technical assistance to CBOs, health departments, and FQHCs on grant writing and funding strategy.
Conduct needs assessments of partner organizations to identify grant-writing and capacity-building gaps.
Provide oversight for website content, resource management, and maintenance of online training and technical assistance materials, including digital resource libraries.
Support program evaluation activities, including coordination of data collection, performance measurement, outcomes monitoring, and evaluation reporting, in partnership with internal or external evaluation personnel, or by identifying appropriate evaluation support as needed.
Oversee day-to-day administrative activities for the AETC, including budgeting, contracts, reporting, and compliance.
Supervise AETC staff, including oversight of performance and support for staff professional development.
Oversee needs assessments to identify and understand regional educational priorities, informing SEPTC and AETC training content and programming strategy.
Collaborate with SEPTC and AETC leadership to identify and pursue opportunities to expand educational activities and programming throughout the Southeastern region.
Build and maintain strong relationships with regional partner organizations, funders, and other training centers.
Coordinate with national and regional Prevention Training Centers and AIDS Education and Training Centers on programming, events, and shared resources.
Track and report on outcomes of grant-writing training and technical assistance activities.
Supervise staff and/or consultants supporting grant writing, toolkit development, and training activities, as assigned.
Participate as an educator in SEPTC and AETC training.
Must have the ability to travel throughout the Southeastern United States.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
