Activities Assistant

Job Summary:

Copper Ridge Nursing & Assisted Living Center is seeking a positive and compassionate Activities Assistant to plan and coordinate events that encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation among our clients, residents, or patients. As an Activities Assistant, you will be responsible for creating and managing daily, weekly, and monthly events that cater to the unique needs and interests of our population.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly events to promote socialization, relaxation, and recreation

  • Implement activities that accommodate individuals with special needs

  • Manage logistics to ensure successful event execution, including phone calls, advertising, inventory, and budget management

  • Observe participants to gauge their enjoyment and gather feedback to improve events

  • Maintain records of event planning, participant interest, and notable events

  • Report medical concerns or observations

  • Ensure events are well-provisioned, staff is trained, and events take place on time and within budget

  • Provide participants with event instructions

  • Adhere to and enforce all safety procedures

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and certain certifications may be required

  • More education or experience in nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related fields may be preferred

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

  • Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands

  • Adaptability, strong organization, and time management skills

  • Excellent resource management, computer, record-keeping, interpersonal, decision-making, and verbal and written communication skills

  • Patience and compassion when dealing with others

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and early mornings

  • Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in activities planning in a long-term care setting preferred but not required.
