Job description

Glenville Pool: Lifeguard & Swim Instructor

OPEN POSITIONS:

  • Lifeguard – $16.43/hour
  • Available Shifts: Monday - Friday 5:30am - 10:00am, 10:00am - 3:00pm, OR 3:00pm - 9:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 6:45am - 10:00am, 10:00am - 3:00pm, OR 3:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Swim Instructor – $16.43/hour
  • Available Shifts: Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Saturdays 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • Other times by appointment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (ALL POSITIONS):

  • Minimum age of 16 or older (with valid NYS working papers for minors)
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness

LIFEGUARDS:

  • Must have a valid lifeguard certification (within 30 days of hire) and demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Be able to pass the CDYMCA swim test, as administered by the Aquatic Director or designated individual
  • Basic computer skills, with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community
  • Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration (completed within 30 days of hire)
  • New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment, ALICE (Active Shooter), and Bloodborne Pathogens trainings (completed within 90 days of hire)
