Job description

North American Activated Carbon producer is looking to fill a critical Business Development Manager position based somewhere in the Upper Midwest or Northeast (near a major airport). This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading Activated Carbon supplier focused on selling a variety of grades of powdered and granular material to various industrial markets. This position is focused on new business development for PAC – Powdered Activated Carbon in both existing and emerging markets. Some of the key markets are coal generation, energy, and water treatment. One of the emerging markets and key applications will be in PFAS (Forever Chemicals) removal. If you like the hunt and thrill of obtaining new business, this is an excellent opportunity to join a leader in the Activated Carbon industry.  It's a solid income and career growth opportunity as well.  Overnight travel is estimated at ~40%.

Responsibilities:  This is true “Hunter” position focused on aggressively developing new business, new accounts, and new markets for Powdered Activated Carbon. Manage pricing, contract negotiations, new product introductions, etc. Communicate effectively with management, all internal departments, and customers. Continually fill a new business opportunity pipeline. Build strong customer relationships.  Close new opportunities. Effectively use a CRM program to manage prospect pipeline activity, and all business information.

Requirements:  5+ years of specialty chemical industry sales or business development experience, preferably with a specialty chemical producer. A strong track record of new sales and business development success. Excellent customer relationship building skills. A college degree is required, business or technical degree is preferred. Must be very professional, self-motivated, and have high competitive drive. Willing to travel overnight as needed.

Compensation: Base: $165,000 - $190,000 commensurate with experience. Annual Bonus targeted at 30% of base salary. There are certain multipliers, and the bonus can be higher.
