Job Summary/Purpose:

Essential Responsibilities

  • Starting wage $24.85/hr
  • Responsible for daily tasks in the auto-palletizing area to include verification of pallet stacks are square, straight; verification of no flaws in pallets; ensure slip sheet is square when placed on pallet; ensure jams are cleared on conveyer and inside the robot cell; replace stretch-wrap film.
  • Monitor the overall operation of the entire palletizing system and use integrated controls and displays to determine the course of action needed to resolve issues.
  • Monitor robot operation to ensure there are no stacking errors within the robot cells, infeed conveyors and full pallet discharge chains.
  • Troubleshoot pallet build errors and determine best course of action based on pallet build sequence and robot operation.
  • When errors occur, re-configure pallet build by restacking, resetting or manipulating robot controls to ensure proper configuration and minimal downtime.
  • Monitor full pallet travel through system to the labeling area to ensure no errors or jams.
  • Troubleshoot pallet label printer to insure it is working and labels are being applied properly with correct information.
  • Troubleshoot stretch wrappers to ensure operation is functioning.
  • Manipulate and troubleshoot conveyors and wrap arms using integrated controls to clear and reset the system.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of the auto-palletizing area.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the area to meet or exceed company standards, goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for training employees assigned to area.
  • Liaison between Americold, Production, Warehouse and other departments as needed.
  • Basic maintenance e.g.: weekly PM, belts, roller, visual wear & tear, change out air cylinders, lubricate, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate downtime information recording.
  • Training and Safety - Provide a safe and healthful work environment for all personnel through consistent support of the company's Heinz Safety Process. Oversee safety processes including, but not limited to, goal setting, hazard recognition, and elimination, administration of safety procedures and corresponding corrective action, area inspection, job skills, and compliance training, accident investigation and safety meetings.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces policies and safety regulations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours; days, afternoons, midnights, overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • As necessary, other duties and/or projects may be assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Must have a High School Diploma and prefer some technical training.
  • Prefer experience in supervising or leading a work group.
  • Prefer experience in the total operation of a unit or departmental processes and equipment.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience in programmable equipment.
  • Must be able read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent writing to include routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and volume.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry where applicable on job.
  • Must be able to apply analyze problems with equipment and determine appropriate action to correct problem.
  • Strong knowledge of the operation of specific equipment, tools and computers.
  • Demonstrate reliability and good work ethics, quality work performance, attention to detail is a must, and maintain a good working relationship with all other departments.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team oriented fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills and must be detail and process oriented.
  • Willingness to grow with the organization.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and be able to identify and solve problems.
  • Incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to work in all areas of the facility including hot and cold areas, and be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs or more.
  • Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually high, and ear protection is required.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places and in outside weather conditions.
