What is an acting intern?

Acting interns, often called sub-interns or sub-Is, are medical students in their final year who participate in advanced clinical rotations, typically in hospitals. They take on many of the responsibilities of an intern or first-year resident, such as admitting patients, writing orders, and managing care under supervision. The position gives students a realistic experience of what residency will be like and helps them prepare for the transition to graduate medical training.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an acting intern?

To thrive as an Acting Intern, you need a solid understanding of acting techniques, script analysis, and basic stage or on-camera performance, often backed by coursework in theater or film studies. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as rehearsal software, self-taping equipment, and casting platforms like Backstage or Actors Access is beneficial. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills help you take direction, collaborate with cast and crew, and quickly integrate feedback. These competencies are vital for building professional experience, making industry connections, and demonstrating readiness for more advanced acting opportunities.

What are some common challenges acting interns face during their rotation, and how can they overcome them?

Acting Interns often encounter challenges such as balancing increased clinical responsibilities with ongoing learning, adapting to a new healthcare team, and managing time effectively. It's common to feel overwhelmed by the fast-paced environment and the need to make important decisions under supervision. To overcome these challenges, Acting Interns are encouraged to communicate openly with supervising physicians, seek feedback regularly, and prioritize tasks using organizational tools. Building strong relationships with residents, nurses, and other team members can also foster a supportive learning environment and improve patient care.

Job description

About Zipline

Zipline is the world’s largest and most experienced drone delivery service. We are on a mission to serve all humans equally by ensuring access to food, medicine and essential goods anytime, anywhere. We design, build, and operate the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably. Today, Zipline operates on four continents, makes a delivery somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, and has completed millions of deliveries to date, including blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products.

Our customers include the world’s largest and most prominent healthcare systems, governments, retailers, restaurants and global businesses who rely on us to save lives, reduce emissions, increase economic opportunity, and provide delivery from point A to point B as fast as possible. The drone is only 15% of what we’ve built to enable seamless, reliable, global operations.

Our system strengthens supply chains, reduces congestion, and gives people time back. With more than 140 million commercial autonomous miles safely flown, Zipline is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

We operate at a global scale and are looking for practical problem solvers who thrive on real-world challenges and rapid growth. Our team is motivated by building systems that have a direct, meaningful impact on people’s lives and by scaling the future of logistics. We are seeking people who sculpt from first principles, enjoy facing adversity, and can do the impossible at record breaking speeds.

About the Marketing and Operations Team

The Field Marketing team serves as the bridge between Zipline and the communities we serve, working closely with local Operations teams to build awareness, trust, and adoption of Zipline’s delivery service. Through community events, partnerships, sponsorships, customer engagement initiatives, and local activations, the team creates meaningful connections that help bring Zipline’s mission to life at the local level.

As a highly collaborative and hands‑on team, Field Marketing partners across Marketing, Operations, and external community organizations to understand local needs, strengthen customer relationships, and support market growth. Team members are often on the ground executing events, engaging directly with customers, gathering community insights, and developing strategies that drive awareness and long‑term engagement. Together, the team plays a critical role in ensuring Zipline remains a trusted and valued partner in the communities where we operate.

The Role

The Field Marketing Intern will play a critical role in connecting Zipline’s operations with the communities we serve, acting as a frontline ambassador to increase brand awareness, drive customer acquisition, and support market growth. This highly hands‑on role will support Zipline’s local Operations and Marketing teams in executing community activations, events, partnerships, sponsorships, and customer engagement initiatives that drive awareness and adoption of Zipline deliveries. Responsibilities will include event setup and execution, brand ambassador support, activation planning, community outreach, and customer engagement. Through these efforts, the intern will help Marketing and Operations teams better understand local needs, strengthen engagement strategies, and build meaningful relationships within the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with planning and executing local events, activations and community partnerships.
  • Track event performance metrics and assist with reporting.
  • Help identify opportunities to increase local awareness and customer acquisition.
  • Coordinate with event logistics, setup, breakdown and inventory management.
  • Be the first to lead the charge for “boots on the ground” support.
What You’ll Bring
  • Available to work in a hybrid environment, with at least two days per week in‑person in our Richardson, Texas Hub.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to support occasional evenings and weekends for events and community engagement activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with customers, partners, and community members while representing the Zipline brand.
  • Adaptable and comfortable navigating changing priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and excited to roll up your sleeves to help execute grassroots marketing initiatives and community events.
  • Must be able to travel frequently throughout Dallas, Texas. Requires transportation (not company provided) and the ability to independently travel to operational sites, events, communities, and partner locations as needed.
What Else You Should Know

This internship is a full‑time position, hybrid with two days in person at our Dallas, Texas office. We will host our Fall 2026 interns from September to December. Zipline is unable to sponsor work visas for applicants to this position.

Candidates are limited to three (3) applications within a 30-day period.
