Summary:
Provides assessments referrals group therapy critical incident interventions that result in optimal functioning of patients in order to guarantee the highest quality of patient care.
This position is for a Mental Health Counselor in an Adult Acute Care Crisis Stabilization Unit (Inpatient) within a 47-bed unit servicing the adult and geriatric population experiencing mood disorder or thought disorders and other co-occurring mental illnesses.
Broward Health Imperial Point in Fort Lauderdale is a 204-bed hospital dedicated to providing advanced high-quality healthcare services to the community. BHIP has a focus on personalized care and the hospital offers many specialties including bariatrics services a behavioral health unit advanced cardiac care including interventional cardiology and heart failure treatment primary stroke care senior care total joint procedures urology care wound care and hyperbaric medicine and robotic surgery.
Full-Time Position. Position includes varied hours/days and includes one weekend day requirement (Saturday).

Responsibilities:
The counselor is responsible for the delivery of mental health counseling services perform individual assessment treatment planning individual and family sessions and group therapy for adults in crisis on the behavioral health unit. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team including psychiatrists nurses discharge planners recreational therapists and mental health technicians. Counselor will implement appropriate treatment plans based on individuals' specific strengths and needs. Clinician will maintain current knowledge of clinical practices.
