Direct Counsel is seeking a Corporate M&A Associate Attorney to join a global law firm in Chicago.

Direct Counsel has partnered with a leading international law firm in seeking an associate to join its Corporate group in Chicago. This opportunity is ideal for a transactional attorney interested in working on sophisticated mergers and acquisitions for both private and public companies.

Position Overview:
The firm is seeking an associate with 3–7 years of corporate experience, particularly in executing M&A transactions and drafting and negotiating principal acquisition agreements. The role involves working closely with clients and deal teams on complex transactions from initial structuring through closing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute mergers and acquisitions transactions for private and public companies

  • Draft and negotiate principal acquisition agreements and related transaction documents

  • Conduct legal research and analysis in support of transactions

  • Manage and assist with transactions from inception through closing

  • Collaborate with attorneys and business professionals across practice groups

  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide responsive legal support

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school

  • Active Illinois Bar admission

  • 3–7 years of corporate transactional experience

  • Direct large law firm experience preferred
