Job description

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATH COACH:

Achievers Early College Prep is excited to grow a team of teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration. Instructional Coaches are needed to be the catalyst for our teachers to be better at identifying and implementing tools and strategies that improve student outcomes.

Coaches in this position will have and be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate expert content knowledge in core subjects, such as Math.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mathematic interventions that specifically target Math skills
  • Analyze data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices regularly.
  • Provide coaching to teachers and committed to their growth
  • Implement multiple techniques with teachers for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
  • Work with teachers to analyze student data to differentiate instruction and track progress.
  • Ensure consistent, research-based curriculum implementation aligned with standards.
  • Conduct daily observations, model and practice with teachers, plan/execute feedback meetings that lead to teacher development, and support implementation of action steps
  • Provide real-time feedback to teachers during instruction and contribute to teachers' mid-year reviews
  • Plan and deliver high-quality professional development that trains teachers in systems and key pedagogical strategies
  • Plan and execute team meetings for content-area staff

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred
  • 3+ years working in classrooms and coaching teachers, preferably in urban schools and/or communities, with a proven record of strong academic achievement
  • Demonstrated history of collaboration- building trust with staff.
  • Adept interpersonal and communication skills with diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Valid NJ Teacher Certification in Math or related subject

ABOUT ACHIEVERS:

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey's first public charter school for students in middle school and high school that provides them with the unique opportunity to pursue one of four STEAM pathways (Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering and Cisco Computer Networking). Students can have access to a program that allows them to earn up to 60 college credits, NOCTI credentials and workplace training. AECP is determined to ensure that students can enhance their journey through high school and graduate with content mastery, skills, and experiences that are essential to the current marketplace and the world beyond.
