Job description

Job Title: Accounting Clerk
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Assistant Controller
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly
Supervisory Status: No
Labor Status: Union Represented
Position Objective
The Accounting Clerk is an entry-level position within the Accounting department, with primary responsibility for Accounts Payable and supporting coverage across Accounts Receivable and Royalty functions. This role performs a range of data entry, reconciliation, and administrative tasks that support the accuracy and efficiency of the department's day-to-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Data Entry
  • Process Accounts Payable transactions, including reviewing work-for-hire contracts and ensuring payment accuracy.
  • Perform daily data entry into accounting software and/or the corporate database.
  • Maintain accurate information in the accounting system and master lists.

Accounts Receivable & Royalties Support
  • Provide coverage and task support across Accounts Receivable and Royalty functions as assigned.
  • Assist the accounting team with overflow AP, AR, and royalty-related tasks.

Reconciliation & Administrative
  • Investigate and assist with the resolution of discrepancies as assigned.
  • Track and reconcile expenses for internal reporting.
  • File accounting documents in a timely and organized manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required
  • 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or a related administrative role.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and work independently in a time-sensitive environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of problem-solving with minimal direction.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with outside vendors, creators, and editors, maintaining a professional attitude with a wide range of personalities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred
  • Associate degree or certificate in Accounting or Finance.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Mac OS.

Due to the confidential nature of the material handled, the individual is required to maintain information in such a manner that it does not become available to any Dark Horse personnel including non-supervisory accounting personnel.
