Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Independently compile, analyze, and review financial information to prepare and record journal entries within the general ledger system, ensuring transactions are accurately documented and properly supported.
  • Record, reconcile, and analyze the Bank's daily cash and investment activities, identifying variances and escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations, ensuring outstanding items are researched and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly accounting schedules and reports with a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain and update departmental procedures, ensuring documentation remains current, accurate, and aligned with internal control requirements and standard procedure templates.
  • Support internal and external audits by collecting, reviewing, validating, and organizing audit documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of regulatory reports, including but not limited to the FR 2900 Report, Call Report, and Y-9SP Report.
  • Serve as a backup for the Accounts Payable function, including reviewing expense coding, processing vendor invoices and employee reimbursement requests, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and support implementation of approved enhancements.
  • Perform special projects, research assignments, and ad hoc financial analyses as requested by management.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments and business partners to resolve accounting-related questions and issues.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting controls.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting schedules.
  • Knowledge of banking operations, regulatory reporting, and financial institution accounting preferred.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to operational efficiencies.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required; banking or financial services industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with general ledger systems and financial reporting applications
