Job description

Accounts Payable Specialist

Meyer Oil Co / Mach 1 Teutopolis, IL Full-Time | $23-$27 per hour

Meyer Oil Co / Mach 1 owns and operates a chain of 25 convenience stores throughout Central and Southern Illinois and Indiana. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join the accounting team at our corporate office in Teutopolis.

This position will focus primarily on accounts payable and the day-to-day processing and organization of vendor invoices and payments. Previous accounts payable or accounting experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train a motivated candidate who is organized, comfortable working with numbers and interested in developing their accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Process and enter vendor invoices accurately and timely
  • Review invoices for proper coding, approvals and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and process vendor payments
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records
  • Communicate with vendors and store personnel regarding invoices and payment questions
  • Assist with account reconciliations and other routine accounting functions
  • Perform data entry and maintain organized electronic and paper records
  • Assist the accounting department with additional duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Accounts payable, bookkeeping or general accounting experience preferred, but not required
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field is a plus
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and learning new software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a team
  • Dependable and able to handle recurring responsibilities and deadlines
