Job description

Seasoned/Highly Experienced Project Manager for Large and Growing Construction Company

Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and seasoned Project Manager, to lead and oversee large-scale, multi-faceted construction projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of complex, high-value projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position demands an individual with deep expertise in construction management, who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and possesses strong leadership and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in handling large construction projects, from design to completion, with a keen understanding of project scope, resource management, and project development. This role requires someone who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and skilled at managing cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle for large, complex construction projects, including planning, design oversight, procurement, construction, billing, change orders and close-out phases. AIA experience required.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring all milestones are met and the project stays on track.
  • Lead project teams, including vendors, subcontractors, and Assistant Project Managers, ensuring effective collaboration and communication throughout the project.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure compliance with project scope, quality standards, safety regulations along side the Safety Manager, and applicable laws.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, addressing issues promptly and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate and communicate with management, including clients, internal teams, regulatory authorities, and external contractors, to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients, highlighting key achievements, risks, and challenges.
  • Manage contract negotiations, change orders, and vendor relationships, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and ensure all on-site activities are conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations along side of the Safety Manager.
  • Ensure high-quality standards are maintained across all phases of the project, managing quality control processes and inspections.
  • Prepare for and participate in project close-out, including documentation, final inspections, and securing necessary approvals with support from the accounting department.
  • Prepare and deliver applicable and timely project billings and work with contractors to ensure and secure payments to keep cash flow moving.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in construction, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction management principles, including project planning, cost control, scheduling, risk management, and contract administration.
  • Extensive experience with large-scale projects in commercial sectors.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera, CLI, Trimble etc.) and other relevant tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring compliance at all stages of the project.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and foster collaboration across various departments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing challenges quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to effectively communicate with clients, management, contractors, and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while ensuring project success.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Project Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Advanced certifications (PMP, LEED, etc.) are a plus.
