Accountant - Global

This hire will be required to be in the Maryland office.

Ciena is seeking an Accountant responsible for the accounting, reporting, and administration of third-party royalty obligations. This role contributes to financial accuracy through royalty tracking, account reconciliations, accrual management, and reporting activities that support business and vendor requirements. The position helpsmaintaincompliance, strengthen financial controls, and improve operational efficiency across accounting processes.
How you will make an impact:
Track and calculate royalties due to vendors.
Review royalty agreements with Product Line Management and Indirect Procurement teams to ensureaccuratetracking and reporting.
Prepare quarterly reports for third-party software vendors and initiate required payments.
Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
Maintainroyalty tracking data and associated part number codes in collaboration with Product Line Management and Indirect Procurement teams.
Evaluate and recommend process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Prepare timecard accruals for the Services team.
The must haves:
Education: BS Degree in Accounting.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel.
Attention to detail.
Dependable and team-oriented work approach.
Experience with automated accounting software; Oracle is desired.

The annual pay range for this position is $63,900 - $102,100 USD
