Open Position: Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Accounting Operations

Job Description:

We are looking for an AVP to join our 5-person Portfolio Accounting team. This role supports the day-to-day operational and accounting activities across Corporate Actions, account onboarding (including mandate changes and in-kind transfers), IR+M private funds, and cash flows.

The Portfolio Accounting team works closely with partners across the firm, including the Investment Team, Client Service, and Investor Services, and collaborates regularly with external counterparties such as custodian banks, brokers, and service providers. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants broad exposure across portfolio operations and client support.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all IR+M accounts and products are accurately reflected in SimCorp, including cash flows, corporate actions, in-kind transfers, mandate changes, account- and security-level restrictions, and commingled funds.

• Partner with the Portfolio Analysts and Trade Operations teams to help identify and analyze cash and security differences across similar portfolios.

• Prepare and respond to ad hoc, monthly, and quarterly accounting and reporting requests.

• Support the training and onboarding of new associates on the team.

• Work closely with the Investor Services team to support client onboarding and ongoing account changes.

• Collaborate with other Operations teams to ensure accounting records are fully accurate and to research and resolve any breaks or discrepancies in SimCorp.

• Troubleshoot non-routine events, escalating issues as appropriate.

• Serve as a resource for the team by helping answer questions and supporting day-to-day workflows and exception handling.

• Communicate regularly with the Portfolio Accounting Manager to flag issues, suggest process improvements, and provide feedback as needed.

• Assist with additional projects and initiatives as they arise.

• Work an 8-hour shift that may fall anywhere between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, depending on operational needs and volume. While schedules may vary, employees are not expected to work the full window availability may be required based on business demands.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in fixed income or a related financial services role

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operations environment and manage competing priorities

• Advanced knowledge of Fund Accounting, general ledger, and related NAV calculations (7+ years of Accounting experience)

• Working knowledge of fixed income securities

• Understanding of cash management and processing

• Familiarity with account reconciliation processes

• Experience with corporate actions (mandatory and voluntary) is a plus

• Strong curiosity and growth mindset, with a desire to learn and develop

• Self-motivated, results-oriented approach to work

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong technical skills, including Excel; experience with Power BI, Python, or similar tools is a plus

• Experience using Bloomberg, SharePoint, and/or SimCorp preferred

• Prior experience in an investment management firm is preferred

Education Requirement:

• Bachelor’s Degree required

• Masters or Progress towards a Masters a plus

• CFA / Progress towards CFA a plus

$100,000-120,000
