Job description

Trade Operations Analyst
We are currently seeking candidates for a Trade Operations Analyst role with a highly successful investment management firm located in Boston, MA. The Trade Operations Analyst will support the firm's Investment Operations team by ensuring investment transactions and portfolio holdings remain compliant with client investment guidelines and regulatory requirements. This individual will partner closely with investment, relationship management, product management, and operations teams while providing both pre- and post-trade compliance support. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of investment management or investment operations experience, strong knowledge of investment products, and excellent analytical and communication skills.
This is a 6-12+ month contract position paying between $30-$40/hour (depending on experience).
This role supports a hybrid work model, consisting of 4 days on-site and 1 day remote/week. Candidates must be willing to work onsite 4 days per week in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities:
  • Interpret client investment documentation and maintain portfolio restrictions within internal monitoring tools.
  • Review portfolio activity to identify potential compliance issues and assist with researching and resolving exceptions.
  • Support investment teams by providing guidance on client restrictions prior to trade execution.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, client service, operations, and other internal departments to address investment-related inquiries.
  • Maintain the accuracy of investment guideline data and assist with updates as client requirements change.
  • Investigate investment exceptions, document findings, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Develop expertise in portfolio guidelines, investment products, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to projects that enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required.
  • 1-3 years of experience within investment management, asset management, investment operations, trade operations, portfolio operations, or financial services (internship experience considered).
  • Understanding of financial instruments such as equities, fixed income securities, and derivatives.
  • Exposure to investment compliance, portfolio oversight, investment restrictions, or regulatory frameworks is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using investment monitoring or compliance platforms is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; familiarity with SQL, Python, or AI tools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
