Overview
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Department Administrator or Financial Manager, the Financial Assistant III performs diversified and complex bookkeeping, secretarial, and administrative duties. The Financial Assistant III is responsible for establishing and maintaining a computerized accounting system to monitor all department accounts.

You can do this by working with the Center for Accelerating Practices to End Suicide (CAPES), a new Center blending digital health, predictive analytics, evidence-based practices, and compassionate care to improve identification and mitigation of suicide risk in children and adults.
Responsibilities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain computerized accounting systems for multiple accounts
  • Coordinate payment activities
  • Reconcile accounting records with the University's Financial Reporting System
  • Identify errors and work with Administrator and/or School fiscal to resolve
  • Prepare and process payroll and/or personnel documents maintaining confidentiality
  • Provide status reports generated by the computer for accounts on a periodic basis
  • Ensure that accounts are not overcommitted and that budgeting guidelines are followed
  • Assist Administrator in preparation of budget documents and perform special projects upon request
  • Provide clerical support for Department Administrator and Faculty including word processing and routine correspondence
  • Provide research and administrative support to special projects, preparing data, grant preparation, reports, and follow-up on projects
  • Prepare and execute employee travel expenses with necessary documentation
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree in accounting, business, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of progressive office or related experience
  • Strong working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and mathematics, Microsoft Office, financial spreadsheets, and relational database packages
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills, with ability to set priorities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent command of English including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Experience in handling complex and confidential material
  • Demonstrated ability to act with discretion, judgment, and confidentiality
