The Corporate Accounting Manager supports Amazon's global accounting operations through financial reporting, technical accounting research, and cross-functional collaboration. This role may support corporate reporting functions such as external reporting (SEC filings, cash flow reporting), corporate functional accounting, foreign exchange accounting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, equity accounting, treasury/funding, or entity restructuring - partnering with business teams across AWS, Digital, Stores, Payments, Advertising, and International operations.
This role requires technical accounting research, cross-functional partnership, risk assessment, control considerations, and process improvement within a complex, high-growth environment. Projects vary in scope and duration, ranging from recurring close activities to multi-year strategic initiatives

The successful candidate will operate independently in a fast-paced environment while partnering effectively across teams including Tax, Legal, Treasury, Finance, and Statutory Accounting.
Key job responsibilities
Perform and/or manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
Support the preparation, review, and filing of SEC reports (10-Q, 8-K, 10-K) and other external filings as applicable
End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners; Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects
Execute judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Technology, and Statutory Accounting teams to understand business initiatives and assess accounting implications
Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in your area and to design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities; drive impactful global projects that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Conduct US GAAP research and provide proactive guidance on accounting matters; prepare position papers and document support for accounting conclusions
Assess risks, evaluate internal control considerations, and escalate issues to leadership with appropriate context and recommendations
About the team
The Corporate Reporting - Close Management team leads the worldwide accounting month-end and quarter-end close process by establishing close calendars and coordinating with Accounting, Tax teams to ensure books are closed on time for external (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and internal management reporting. In addition to owning Amazon's Chart of Accounts and corresponding policy, as well as Amazon's Corporate Allocations.
