Job description

UASI is a leading healthcare consulting and services company with over 40 years in business serving some of the top hospitals and healthcare systems nationwide. We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Accounting to lead our accounting function during an exciting period of growth and transformation. The ideal candidate will be skilled in process improvement, leveraging technology, and evolving scalable accounting operations that support business growth.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and a goal of achieving a five-business-day close.
  • Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, accounts receivable, payroll, financial controls, audits, lender reporting, and compliance with US GAAP.
  • Monitor balance sheet health, including receivables aging, accruals, prepaid balances, and reconciliation status; maintain a real-time view of working capital position
  • Drive continuous improvement by standardizing accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and identifying automation opportunities.

ERP Migration & Systems Leadership

  • Lead the accounting team's role in the migration from Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, partnering closely with IT and the implementation team.
  • Leverage technology, including Business Central, Power BI, Power Automate, and other business systems, to improve efficiency, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Ensure accounting processes are scalable, well-documented, and designed to maximize system capabilities.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team by establishing clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and fostering accountability.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while supporting employee growth and development.
  • Build documentation, cross-training, and knowledge-sharing practices that create a sustainable, high-performing accounting function.

Cross-Functional Partnerships

  • Partner with Finance leadership to deliver accurate financial reporting, variance analysis, and operational insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Operations, HR, Sales, and other departments to improve financial processes, billing, payroll, and client-related workflows.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization by serving as a trusted business partner and providing financial guidance that supports organizational goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required with CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern cloud ERP system required; experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required - candidate must build tools and models, not only produce reports.
  • Demonstrated track record of designing and improving accounting processes, not only inheriting and maintaining them; experience in a turnaround or build environment is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP implementations or migrations; familiarity with Dynamics 365 Business Central, QuickBase, Power BI, or Power Automate strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions; experience in a professional services or healthcare services environment is preferred.

UASI provides a growth environment with opportunities for high achievers to be rewarded. We offer a full benefits package with compensation aligned to contribution and success.
