We are currently seeking an Accounting Intern to join our team in Lynchburg, VA.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

About the Role
Southern Air, Inc., an industry-leading company headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia, with multi-state operations, is seeking an Accounting Intern to assist during the Fall 2026 semester.
This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and offers exposure to a variety of accounting and business functions. For candidates interested in continuing their professional development, this role provides valuable experience and potential opportunities for future growth within the organization.
The Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience in payroll, human resources, retirement plans, affirmative action programs, IRS and corporate compliance, and other essential accounting and finance activities.
What We're Looking For
Candidates should have completed or be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. Experience with general accounting duties is preferred but not required.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Accounting Intern will assist with:
  • Electronic maintenance of confidential records, including required employee documentation
  • Online remittance of taxes and benefit contributions
  • Processing quarterly and year-end payroll tax reports and W-2s
  • Interacting with benefit vendors and service providers
  • Navigating vendor and internal websites for data extraction and manipulation
  • Troubleshooting issues with existing computer systems as they arise
  • Supporting the Director of Finance with annual projects, including:
    • Insurance renewals
    • Retirement plan administration
    • Retirement plan audits
    • Compliance-related initiatives
    • Other accounting and finance projects as assigned
