Position Summary: Apex is seeking an ambitious and detail oriented Accounting Intern for a three month assignment. This position is an excellent opportunity for a current accounting or finance student to gain hands on experience supporting day to day accounting operations and month end close activities.

The Accounting Intern will report to a Senior Accountant and work closely with the accounting team. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, eager to learn, and comfortable working with financial information. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established processes and instructions, and a positive, team oriented attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record journal entries
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Support bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Assisting the team with various month-end close duties
Work Schedule

This is a three month, part time assignment requiring approximately 15 to 25 hours per week. The position will include one day per week working in the Apex Oak Brook, IL office, with the remaining hours worked remotely.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Pursuit of a bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of US-GAAP and external audit requirements.
  • Experience in Microsoft Business Central is ideal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and ERP systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills to work alongside a high-performing team.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
