Accounting Manager
Greenfield MillingFull-TimeDenver, CO - On-Site
POSITION OVERVIEW
Greenfield Milling is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance team; the team is working on broader financial cleanup and general day-to-day accounting work. This is a hands-on role: the company is specifically looking for someone who will actively execute accounting work day-to-day, not operate in a purely managerial capacity. There is significant room for growth into a people-management role as the function matures and the team builds out, along with a high degree of flexibility in how the role develops over time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hands-On Execution: Perform hands-on accounting work in direct support of the teams ongoing cleanup and process-improvement initiatives.
Month-End Close: Lead the monthly financial close process, including reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing journal entries.
Core Accounting Ownership: Own day-to-day management of one or more accounting functions as assigned, e.g.,(accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Cleanup & Discrepancy Resolution: Review and help correct historical account discrepancies as part of the company's broader financial cleanup effort.
Proactive Communication: Partner closely with the current team and communicate proactively - asking clarifying questions and surfacing issues.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Analyze financial data and prepare reports to support decision-making and leadership updates.
Process Documentation: Assist with documenting and standardizing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
External Coordination: Assist with external auditors, tax professionals, or outside accountants as needed.
Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in coordination with company financial planning.
Systems & Process Improvement: Support ERP/accounting system usage and data integrity and help identify opportunities to improve or automate manual processes.
Payroll Accounting Support: Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations as needed.
IDEAL BACKGROUND & SKILLS
Experience: Prior accounting experience in a hands-on capacity; comfortable personally executing detailed accounting work rather than only overseeing it.
Technical Foundation: Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles, including month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Systems: Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar); milling or manufacturing industry systems experience is a plus.
Analytical Tools: Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data and reports.
Communication Style: A proactive communicator who asks questions and raises issues early, rather than waiting to be told.
Cleanup/Process Experience: Experience supporting or participating in a financial cleanup, system implementation, or process-standardization effort is a plus.
Working Style: Comfortable working under a direct, strong-personality leadership style, and receptive to structured feedback and assessment tools (the organization uses the Predictive Index).
Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Discretion: Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential financial information.
Credentials: Formal accounting credentials (CPA, CMA, or similar) are a nice-to-have, not required.
Availability: Available to start quickly.
COMPENSATION & Benefits
Competitive Pay: Base Salary of $85,000 - $95,000, depending on experience
Paid Time Off & Company Paid Holidays
Medial, Dental, Vision Health Coverage Plans
Tuition Reimbursement Options
