Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team to support the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining the General Ledger, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, managing month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Accounting Manager also contributes to process improvements, audit activities, and regulatory compliance while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

In addition, the Accounting Manager supervises the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Support annual budgeting and monthly forecasting activities.
  • Analyze operating results and explain financial variances.
  • Support department managers with financial analysis and decision making.
  • Review GST/PST and other statutory filings, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare management reports and ad hoc financial analyses.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and required documentation.
  • Participate in ERP implementations, system enhancements, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide backup support to other members of the Finance team as required.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, financial systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required skills & abilities

  • CPA designation
  • 35 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, and cost accounting.
  • Knowledge of statutory tax filings, cash management, and internal controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics GP or equivalent.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Work Location: Hybrid (Currently 3 days a week, subject to change)

Salary: 90,000 - 105,000 CAD
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
