Accounting Manager - FULL TIME - On-Site in Charlottesville, VA
SUMMARY:
A successful Accounting Manager will ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of UVA Community Credit Union's financial records and reporting. This role is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, supervising staff, and managing the monthly close process while maintaining compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls. Significant focus will be placed on reviewing financial activity, analyzing results, and proactively resolving discrepancies, while supporting continuous improvement of accounting processes and effective collaboration across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries, account classifications, and daily accounting activity across the general ledger. This includes accounts payable.
  • Supervises and directs Staff Accountants, including assigning work, reviewing output, and ensuring adherence to accounting procedures.
  • Oversees the monthly close process, including review of reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepares and reviews internal management reports, providing analysis of financial results, trends, and variances.
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves account variances and reconciling items.
  • Develops and improves accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Maintains contact with other departments and external contacts as needed.
  • Keeps management informed of activities and significant issues.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 - 7 years of related experience, including general ledger responsibility and supervision.
  • 3 - 5 years of previous accounting experience with credit unions or other financial institutions is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

BENEFITS:
We offer an attractive suite of benefits to employees who work an average of 20 hours per week or more, including: Health, Dental, Vision, up to a 7% employer 401(k) contribution after the first year of employment. Employees are eligible for Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Health & Wellness Spending Account, Tuition Reimbursement, and Employee Loan Discounts. Employees accrue Paid Time Off starting with 16 days accrual at full time annually, and 13 company paid holidays. Employees are also eligible for Family Forming Leave, and Volunteer Time Off.
