Job description

re you looking to take your public accounting experience into a technical accounting role with a well-established energy company? We're looking for a Senior Accountant, Technical Accounting with a strong technical accounting background and experience working through complex accounting issues. This is a level 4 role, one level below management, and will serve as a key partner to the Technical Accounting Manager and teams across the organization.
This is a great opportunity for someone coming from Big-4 or a large regional public accounting firm who has developed a strong foundation in technical accounting and wants exposure to a broad range of accounting, reporting, and operational issues.
Location: Onsite in Portland (some flexibility in scheduling); parking or TriMet pass provided
Schedule: Typical 40-45 hour work weeks, some uptick to 45-50 during quarter close
Compensation: $100,000-$140,000 + up to 15% annual bonus

YOUR JOB FOCUS:
  • Technical accounting research and analysis under U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Review contracts and regulatory matters to determine appropriate accounting treatment
  • Prepare accounting conclusions, documentation, and technical accounting memos
  • Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including 10-Q and 10-K filings
  • Assist with financial statement disclosures and analysis
  • Evaluate new accounting pronouncements and update accounting policies as needed
  • Support quarterly internal controls and variance analysis
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, accounting, legal, regulatory, operational, and other internal teams
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex, sensitive, or time-sensitive issues
  • Support external audit requests and other ad hoc reporting needs
YOU:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • Strong technical accounting experience across a range of areas
  • Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience required
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with technical accounting research, contract reviews, and accounting conclusions
  • CPA preferred
  • Utility or regulatory accounting experience is a plus
