We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability, protected veteran, and other protected status.
OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.
Note:All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval
Job Description:This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 15 hours per week) Accounting Program Marketing and Outreach Student Assistant position for the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU), based at the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend.
The accounting program at OSU-Cascades is small, growing, and genuinely connected to the region around it - students move directly into public accounting firms, industry roles, and government positions across Central Oregon and the Northwest. What the program has not yet done is tell that story consistently. That is the job.
In this position you will help shape how the accounting major is presented to prospective students deciding on a major, to current students weighing their options, to alumni we want to stay connected with, and to employers who hire our graduates. You will write and design content, run the program's social media presence, help plan and staff events, and represent the program at campus and community gatherings. You will work directly with the program coordinator, with real ownership over what goes out and how it lands.
This is unusually good experience for a student who wants to work in a professional services setting: you will practice communicating technical material to non-technical audiences, running events, and building relationships with alumni and employers - the same skills that distinguish people early in an accounting or consulting career.

Position Duties:
Create and edit content promoting the accounting major to prospective students, current students, alumni, and the Central Oregon business community, including social posts, short videos, photography, flyers, newsletter copy, and web page updates.
Maintain the program's social media presence: build and follow a content calendar, publish to program-affiliated and OSU-Cascades channels, draft LinkedIn posts and articles for the program coordinator to review and publish, monitor engagement, and report back on what is working.
Plan and staff program events such as information sessions, employer and alumni panels, networking nights, and student club activities, including reserving space, coordinating catering, preparing materials, and setup and teardown.
Support alumni relations by maintaining contact lists, drafting outreach messages, and helping coordinate alumni speakers, mentors, and event participants.
Represent the accounting program at campus and community events, including orientation, admitted student days, major and career fairs, and open houses.
Support media outreach by identifying newsworthy program stories, drafting pitches and background materials, and coordinating with OSU-Cascades and University Relations and Marketing communications staff on outreach to local and regional media.
Research peer programs, prospective employers, and outreach opportunities; write short summaries for the program coordinator; and provide general program support including scheduling, correspondence, data entry, and document preparation.
Transferable Skill Development
OSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees. The competencies students develop while working at OSU are defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as the essential skills employers seek in their hires. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below:
