Job description

Outsourced Accounting Manager | Client Accounting Manager

100% Remote | Outstanding Work-Life Balance | Growing Advisory Firm | Base to $125K-$130K

You're the kind of accounting professional who likes getting things done.

You enjoy solving problems.

You don't mind rolling up your sleeves to clean up messy books, untangle complicated accounting issues, or jump in wherever clients need help.

You enjoy leading people, improving processes, and making sure work gets completed accurately and on time.

You're just as comfortable reviewing someone else's work as you are doing it yourself.

And while you're naturally curious about helping business owners make smarter financial decisions, you know those conversations start with accurate accounting and exceptional client service.

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a fast-growing outsourced accounting and advisory firm that serves small and mid-sized businesses across a wide variety of industries.

This isn't a traditional Accounting Manager position.

You'll work alongside a team of bookkeepers, accountants, and advisors while serving as the bridge between accurate accounting, exceptional client service, and future advisory work.

You'll help ensure clients receive timely, accurate financial information while supporting the internal team, reviewing work, solving technical accounting challenges, and helping clients move from "keeping the books" to actually understanding their business.

You'll also lead and participate in client advisory meetings and develop into a more strategic business advisor.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage a portfolio of client relationships, including several of your own accounting engagements.

• Lead bookkeeping cleanup projects and onboard new clients successfully.

• Review accounting work completed by internal staff and client personnel.

• Ensure month-end close work is completed accurately and on schedule.

• Assist with more complex accounting issues, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and technical questions.

• Coach, mentor, and support members of the accounting team while helping maintain accountability and workflow.

• Help improve internal processes and client delivery.

• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting projects.

• Sit alongside senior advisors during client strategy meetings while developing your advisory skills.

• Gradually assume additional client advisory responsibilities as your understanding of firm-specific workflows grows.

What Success Looks Like

You're someone who:

• Doesn't believe any task is beneath your title.

• Has no problem jumping into QuickBooks to solve a problem.

• Naturally takes ownership when something needs to get done.

• Holds yourself - and others - to a high standard of quality.

• Communicates well with both clients and teammates.

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

• Can comfortably balance multiple client engagements without sacrificing attention to detail.

• Enjoys helping others succeed.

• Has a genuine sense of urgency and believes in solving problems before clients ever have to ask.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.

• Experience working with multiple clients in a public accounting firm, CAS practice, outsourced accounting firm, or similar client-service environment strongly preferred.

• Strong QuickBooks Online experience is required.

• Advanced understanding of bookkeeping, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll accounting, and GAAP.

• Experience reviewing the work of others while coaching and mentoring team members.

• Ability to prioritize multiple client engagements simultaneously.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• CPA is a plus but not required.

Bonus Points If You Have Experience With

• Cleanup accounting projects.

• Client onboarding.

• Financial statement reviews.

• Budgeting and forecasting.

• Cash flow reporting.

• KPI reporting and dashboard development.

• Fathom or similar financial reporting software.

Why This Role Is Different

Most Accounting Manager roles focus on one company.

This one allows you to work with dozens of growing businesses across multiple industries.

Most firms separate bookkeeping from advisory.

Here, you'll build the accounting foundation first - and then have the opportunity to grow into strategic client advisory work.

Most firms hire specialists.

We're looking for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, helping teammates succeed, and making a meaningful impact for clients.

The Right Person For This Role

You're practical.

You're proactive.

You enjoy creating order from chaos.

You understand that serving small business owners requires patience, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt.

You know that great accounting isn't just about debits and credits - it's about helping clients build better businesses.

If you're looking for an opportunity where your technical accounting skills, leadership ability, and client service mindset will all be valued - and where you can continue growing into advisory work - we'd love to have a conversation.
