Location: The Woodlands, TX
Amount of Travel Required: Minimal
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Overtime as business requires)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the entry, processing, and analysis of accounting and financial information for the Corporate accounting team. Primary responsibilities include preparing routine journal entries, assisting with the monthly close process, performing account reconciliations, and helping ensure accurate financial reporting. This position works under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager and contributes to timely and accurate month-end and year-end results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements including Analytical Review:
    • Recording of journal entries required to reflect monthly activity.
    • Completion of month-end close process to ensure accuracy of accounting records.
    • Ensure project job costing and revenue recognition is accurate and in accordance with GAAP.
    • Preparation of workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances.
    • Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of monthly account reconciliations.
    • Balance intercompany balances with affiliated businesses.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective.
  • Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes by performing reconciliations, allocations and journal entries.
  • Communication as necessary to answer questions and inform business partners concerning financial performance and business issues.
  • Ensure controls are implemented, documented and maintained adequately and effectively.
  • Document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in transaction processing.
  • Assist in the annual audit process with external auditor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Overtime may be required and in person, predictable attendance in The Woodlands.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3-year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • 2-4 years in accounting and finance sector.
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise written and verbal communication of results.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with people operating at all levels of the company in a variety of situations.
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation of all programs used by the organization including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend advanced English, with the ability to effectively communicate with people operating all levels of the company and in a variety of situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Solid understanding of internal control processes.
  • High proficiency with RPA, VBA, and other automation applications.
  • Fully knowledgeable of US GAAP standards.
  • Possess strong analytical thinking skills, including creative and critical thinking and data analysis.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with internal auditing, financial reporting, and risk management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to act with a high degree of integrity and ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Employee works indoors in an office setting, primarily sitting for extended periods at a desk station. The role requires keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The Employee must speak clearly and audibly, and have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds (e.g., building alarms) from in-person speech, telephone, or remote communication.
