Staff Accountant

 

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: Competitive and Commensurate with Experience and Qualifications


We are seeking a motivated and personable Staff Accountant to join our team.  This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a diverse range of responsibilities, client interaction, and the opportunity to develop their skills in both accounting and taxation.

The position involves additional hours during tax season, with increased flexibility during the off-season.  This schedule is well suited for an individual who is willing to work hard during the busy season while valuing flexibility throughout the remainder of the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements
  • Prepare payroll tax and sales/excise tax filings
  • Prepare individual, corporate, non-profit, and fiduciary tax returns
  • Prepare tax projections
  • Communicate professionally with clients to answer accounting and tax-related questions
  • Manage multiple engagements and meet established deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with at least two years of public accounting experience; or
  • Three to five years of public accounting experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and theory
  • Broad exposure to federal income tax laws and tax preparation
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive and professional approach to working under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing quality client service
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office and Quickbooks Software
  • Experience with tax preparation software is a plus
