Loan Accountant (Hybrid - Columbia, SC)
The Loan Accountant performs intermediate to complex reconciliations, prepares and documents journal entries, and investigates discrepancies across systems. They work with limited supervision, contributes to close effectiveness, and identifies process improvements that strengthen accuracy and control.
What You'll Do
Financial Reconciliations & Issue Resolution
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to subledgers and external data sources; resolve multiplatform differences.
  • Prepare and post journals with complete support and clear narratives.
  • Communicate required adjustments and status updates to stakeholders.

Data Integrity, Controls & Compliance
  • Monitor exception/variance reports and research root causes.
  • Implement corrective actions and document control evidence for audit readiness.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and close timelines.

Close Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Manage assigned close tasks and deliverables with minimal oversight.
  • Validate results for reasonableness across periods; update templates and SOPs.
  • Participate in testing of system or process changes that impact accounting.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of Loan Operations
  • Solid command of GAAP and account reconciliation techniques.
  • Intermediate spreadsheet and analysis skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication ability.
  • Ability to prioritize across multiple deadlines.
