Job description

Overview Staff Accountant position with a well-established construction company based in Ravenel, South Carolina. This in-office role handles a variety of financial tasks, including processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, and maintaining an organized general ledger. Payroll processing, tax preparation, fixed asset tracking, and month-end closing procedures are also involved.

Responsibilities

Accurately input all financial transactions into the accounting system, including sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll. Handle accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, managing customer payments, and following up on outstanding receivables. Regularly reconcile bank statements to ensure the accuracy of the company's cash balances. Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as income statements and balance sheets. Calculate and process employee payroll, including deductions and tax withholdings. Assist with the preparation of federal and state tax returns, including quarterly estimates. Maintain a well-organized general ledger, ensuring proper classification of all transactions. Record and depreciate fixed assets. Perform necessary adjustments and closing procedures at the end of each month.

Requirements

Experience in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management. Ability to handle journal entries effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with month-end close operations. Knowledge of Sage software is beneficial. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (or related field) preferred. Two or more years of accounting experience in construction (or related industry) preferred.
