Job description

Abacoa Executive Solutions is working with their client in West Palm Beach, FL to fill the following direct-hire position of Junior Accountant/Business Manager.


The function of the Business Manager is to manage the preparation and project analysis associated with invoicing large service projects. This position is responsible for keeping the Project Manager informed on all financial aspects of each project including the status of the job versus budget, profitability, labor efficiency, invoicing and accounts receivable. In addition, this position will have direct interaction with customers to assist the Project Manager with invoicing questions. This position is in the Accounting Department.


  1. Review the initial scope of work with the Project Manager to understand project specific requirements.
  2. Meet with key customer contacts at start of job to establish communication stream.
  3. Ensure proper set up initial work order.
  4. Generate weekly invoices for each work order
  5. Analyze project invoicing for time recording, or material purchase issues before submitting to customer.
  6. Finalize invoices with any changes from Project Manager or issue identified when analyzing the project and submit to customer.
  7. Review and assist Project Mangers with outstanding receivables.
  8. Provide Controller bi-weekly cash forecast.
  9. Evaluate all “Business Processes” and make suggestions for improvements.
  10. As part of month-end financial close, provide Controller with analysis of projects that closed ahead of budget and over budget.
  11. Analyzing sub-contractor and material markups against proposal and identify any discrepancies.
  12. Analyzing the cause of the material project variances.
