Job description

Northbay Recruiter is partnering with a growing manufacturing company in search of an experienced Senior Accountant to support the Controller and finance team. This role will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial reporting, leading month-end close activities, and improving accounting processes. This role offers broad exposure across the accounting function, including general ledger, inventory, financial reporting, compliance, and ERP initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and enjoys improving processes in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Analyze account activity and prepare accruals, deferrals, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management.
Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Support tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Assist with automation initiatives and documentation of accounting procedures.
  • Support ERP system implementations, upgrades, and ongoing optimization efforts.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing or distribution.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working within an ERP system; implementation or conversion experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or equipment industry experience.
  • Inventory and cost accounting exposure.
  • ERP implementation or system optimization experience.
