Job description

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We're dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid's network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
Plaid's Account Verification team builds the foundation of trust for open finance. We help fintechs and financial institutions connect and verify bank accounts securely so that money can move safely and instantly. Account Verification is the entry point for all of Plaid's payment-focused consumer experiences and is a critical building block for our customers. The team obsesses over creating seamless verification journeys that balance speed, reliability, and security, enabling consumers to confidently connect to the financial ecosystem.
As the lead PM for Account Verification, you'll own one of Plaid's most critical and high-impact product areas. You'll lead the evolution of our verification platform across Auth, Balance, and Identity Match, defining how millions of people and businesses connect their financial accounts every day.
We are looking for a high-ownership builder who thrives in ambiguity, loves building with customers, and is excited to define what's next for one of Plaid's most established and strategically important product lines. You'll set vision and strategy, drive execution across a cross-functional team, and shape how Plaid competes in an increasingly complex and, eventually, AI-driven verification landscape.
You'll partner closely with engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to:
  • Deliver next-generation account verification experiences for fintechs, banks, platforms, and enterprises.
  • Expand Plaid's verification methods across open banking, ML, and traditional fallback-based approaches.
  • Position Plaid as the most trusted, flexible, and insight-rich verification provider in the industry.
  • Rethink how Plaid's flows work for a quickly diversifying set of customer use cases.

If you're energized by building systems that power millions of financial connections and enjoy balancing customer empathy with bold product strategy, this is your opportunity to lead at scale.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Account Verification strategy and roadmap, from long-term vision to near-term priorities, grounded in customer and business outcomes.
  • Reimagine the Auth experience to unlock new use cases (recurring payments, e-commerce, account funding) through modern, flexible verification flows.
  • Expand verification capabilities across a growing set of methodologies: open banking, database auth, microdeposits, and beyond.
  • Drive self-serve, experimentation, and orchestration tools that empower developers and operators to configure and optimize verification paths without code.
  • Partner across Plaid to create cohesive experiences across account setup, risk management, and money movement.
  • Represent Plaid internally and externally as a product thought leader, shaping how customers, partners, and the industry view account verification.
  • Operate like an owner. Move quickly, make bold decisions, and bring creative energy to scaling one of Plaid's most essential products.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience, including 5+ in product management or equivalent founder/operator roles.
  • Proven success building and scaling products, ideally in fintech or payments.
  • Strong mix of strategic vision and executional drive; able to see the big picture while sweating the details.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, high-growth environments and lead with conviction.
  • Track record of cross-functional impact, influencing design, engineering, and GTM teams to deliver results.
  • Hands-on comfort with data and AI tools for writing, analysis, prototyping, and experimentation.

Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
Plaid is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion or religious belief, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, military or veteran status, disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. Plaid is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities in our recruiting process. If you need any assistance with your application or interviews due to a disability, please let us know at accommodations@plaid.com.

Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.
