What is an account success manager?

An Account Success Manager is a professional responsible for ensuring that clients achieve their desired outcomes while using a company's products or services. They work closely with customers to understand their needs, provide solutions, and help them realize value from the company's offerings. Their role often includes onboarding, training, ongoing support, and serving as the main point of contact for client concerns. By fostering strong relationships, Account Success Managers help improve customer satisfaction and retention. They may also identify opportunities for account growth and upselling.

How does an account success manager typically collaborate with other teams to ensure client satisfaction?

Account Success Managers work closely with cross-functional teams such as sales, product, and customer support to address client needs and ensure ongoing satisfaction. They often serve as the main point of contact for clients, relaying feedback and coordinating solutions internally. Regular meetings and updates with these departments are common to stay aligned on client goals, address issues proactively, and identify opportunities for upselling or process improvements. This collaborative approach helps maintain strong client relationships and drives overall business success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an account success manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Account Success Manager, you need strong relationship management, problem-solving abilities, and a background in business or customer service, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM software (like Salesforce), data analytics tools, and account management platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, empathy, and proactive organizational skills help set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are crucial for building trust, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving long-term account growth.

Job description

A Day in the Life: Account Manager – Exploring Graphics (Las Vegas)About the Role

At Exploring Graphics, a division of Exploring, LLC, every project is unique. As an Account Manager, you are the primary point of contact for your clients, responsible for managing projects from concept through final installation. You serve as the bridge between clients, sales, design, production, shipping, and installation teams, ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a fast-paced, customer-focused position that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Starting Your Day

You begin your morning by reviewing project schedules, production updates, installation timelines, and customer communications. With several projects in different stages of production, you prioritize your workload and identify any issues that require immediate attention.

You check emails, review artwork approvals, monitor shipping schedules, and prepare for customer meetings. Every day starts with a clear understanding of what needs to happen to keep projects moving forward.

Building Customer Relationships

Throughout the day, you communicate with customers, exhibit houses, marketing teams, event coordinators, and internal departments to ensure everyone is aligned.

You answer questions, provide project updates, review specifications, coordinate schedules, and help customers navigate changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Success in this role is built on trust, responsiveness, and the ability to consistently exceed customer expectations.

Managing Projects

As projects move through production, you coordinate with:

  • Graphic Production
  • Print Operators
  • Finishing
  • Shipping & Logistics
  • Installation Teams
  • Purchasing
  • Project Management
  • Sales

You verify artwork approvals, review production schedules, coordinate freight, and ensure materials arrive where they need to be—on time and ready for installation.

Every detail matters because your planning directly impacts the success of customer events.

Problem Solving

Trade shows and events operate on strict deadlines. Priorities change quickly, and unexpected challenges can arise.

You proactively identify potential issues before they become problems, whether it's adjusting production schedules, expediting shipments, coordinating reprints, or communicating schedule changes with customers.

Your ability to stay organized and remain calm under pressure is one of your greatest strengths.

Collaboration

At Exploring Graphics, no one succeeds alone.

You work closely with production, operations, purchasing, logistics, installers, and sales to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.

Daily communication and teamwork are essential to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Business Growth

While providing outstanding customer service, you also look for opportunities to grow customer relationships.

You identify additional products and services that support your clients' marketing objectives and event needs while helping build long-term partnerships.

Wrapping Up

Before ending the day, you update project notes, document customer communications, confirm production milestones, and prepare for the next day's priorities.

You leave knowing your work helped create graphics, displays, exhibits, and branded environments that will be seen by thousands of people across the country.

The ideal Account Manager possesses:

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and project management software
  • Ability to interpret drawings, layouts, specifications, and production schedules
  • Professional demeanor with both customers and internal teams
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
