Location: Hays, KS | HPMHC

What You’ll Do:

  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and on time, including invoice entry, payment processing, and maintaining financial records.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and complete related bookkeeping tasks, including preparing and processing 1099s.
  • Post payments received from the State of Kansas, resolve unapplied cash and overpayments, and process insurance claims across multiple payers.
  • Assist patients by answering questions related to insurance claims, billing statements, and payment concerns as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required unclaimed property reports to the State of Kansas.
  • Support the annual audit by preparing workpapers and assisting with audit coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient accounting operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial and patient information.
  • Build positive working relationships with coworkers and internal stakeholders while providing excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements and utilize technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy in daily financial operations.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Two years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable experience preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with accounts payable, financial recordkeeping, billing, or insurance payment processing is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and patient information with professionalism.
  • Proficiency with computers, accounting software, Microsoft Office, and other office technology.
  • Experience working with insurance companies or healthcare billing terminology is preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and using technology to improve efficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and provide excellent customer service.
