This Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team! In this role, you will develop and execute sales, marketing, and business development strategies supporting our environmental consulting services and commercial client programs. Responsibilities include client relationship management, lead generation, proposal development, and managing the full sales cycle. You will drive the Commercial Program’s customer acquisition and revenue goals while maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities to support continued business growth.

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for account management and development of new accounts pertaining to our diverse service lines within both Industrial and Environmental Services.
  • Leverage and market our existing master IDIQ contracts and master service agreements (MSAs). 
  • Identify potential strategic hires and new services lines to pursue based on market intelligence.  
  • Navigate client company structures to get past gate keepers and influence decision makers.
  • Develops and maintains sales strategies, gathers, and evaluates customer research, market conditions, competitor data, and will implement plan changes as needed.
  • Attend and participate at industry related trade shows & networking events
  • Attend targeted town council and county board meetings
  • Continuously build, partner & manage strong relationships with key players/decision makers in our industry
  • Monitor, review, and report all new sales activity and results through CRM.
  • Generate marketing and campaign lists and pipelines utilizing CRM.
  • Create CRM sales territories to map existing customers and potential targets.  Use this to coordinate with other BD managers and service line leaders to create an integrated customer sales touch strategy.
  • Meet and exceed sales goals!
  • Engage in problem solving by performing analysis, technical writing, & recommendations to clients by partnering with Project Managers
  • Partner with staff to prepare sales & marketing related deliverables, meetings, and submittals, as well as attending client meetings.
  • Partner with other Business Development leads at Bay West to identify potential new opportunities for services with existing clients. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience developing and closing new sales accounts 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field highly preferred but not required.
  • Sales Training or Certified Sales Professional certification preferred 
  • Strong experience generating new business and account management 
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills 
  • Ability to overcome critical sales objections 
  • Strong business relationship building skills a must 
  • Strategic sales planning experience 
  • Outstanding attention to detail & follow-up skills 

Travel Requirements

  • This position will be based out of Bay West’s home office in St. Paul, Minnesota. 
  • Travel throughout the Midwest is expected and can be up to 30% of time and includes overnight travel.
