Overview

The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) is seeking a strategic Senior Director of Continuing Medical Education (CME) to lead its ACCME-accredited CME enterprise. This individual will oversee the development, accreditation, evaluation, marketing, and expansion of educational programming for physicians and interprofessional healthcare teams while ensuring regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and operational effectiveness.

The Senior Director will partner with faculty leaders, department chairs, hospital affiliates, and external organizations to identify educational needs and enhance Temple’s academic, clinical, and community-focused mission. Responsibilities include management of the CME budget, securing external funding through grants and sponsorships, maintaining ACCME standards, supporting enduring and specialty educational programming, and advancing scholarship and best practices in medical education. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.

The ideal candidate will possess an M.D., Ph.D., or Ed.D. with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in medical, continuing, adult, or health professional education preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and 6–10 years of experience in an academic office environment will also be considered; a Master’s degree is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in educational program development, academic administration, accreditation compliance, and professional learning environments is highly desirable.

Why Temple?

  • Opportunity to lead and expand a nationally recognized, financially self-sustaining ACCME-accredited CME program within a prestigious academic health system
  • Mission-driven environment with strong engagement across faculty leadership, hospital departments, and external partners
  • Access to professional growth and leadership development at a nationally prominent R1 research institution
  • Ability to shape innovative physician education through live activities, enduring materials, and emerging learning formats
  • Support for scholarship, research, publication, and advancement in lifelong learning and professional development
  • Integrated academic health system committed to excellence in education, collaboration, and community impact
