POSITION OVERVIEW

The Apparel Designer is responsible for developing compelling licensed and non-licensed apparel graphics and product concepts specifically for our DTC business.

This role combines creativity, trend awareness, consumer insight, and commercial thinking to develop products that connect directly with fans and consumers across our digital channels.

The ideal candidate understands the fast pace of e-commerce and can translate emerging trends, cultural moments, licensed properties, and consumer insights into relevant, production-ready designs. This position will work closely with Design, Merchandising, Marketing, E-Commerce, Licensing, and Product Development to bring products from concept through launch.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research consumer, fashion, retail, social media, pop-culture, and e-commerce trends to identify new product opportunities.
  • Develop original licensed and non-licensed graphics and product concepts for DTC collections and launches.
  • Translate licensed brand assets and creative direction into fresh, consumer-relevant designs while maintaining brand standards.
  • Partner with Merchandising and E-Commerce teams to develop products aligned with consumer demand, seasonal opportunities, and business priorities.
  • React quickly to emerging trends, cultural moments, and consumer interests to support speed-to-market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure product concepts support digital campaigns, storytelling, and consumer engagement.
  • Create production-ready artwork and ensure designs are commercially viable and executable.
  • Maintain accurate product and design information within the PLM system.
  • Participate in seasonal trend research, competitive shopping, and consumer research.
  • Contribute to the development of silhouettes, fabrics, colors, graphics, and product assortments.
  • Develop multiple creative solutions while considering target retail price, margin, materials, and production requirements.
  • Partner with Licensing and Product Development to maintain design integrity throughout the development and approval process.
  • Review product performance and consumer response to help inform future design decisions.
  • Collaborate across design categories to identify opportunities for coordinated collections and cross-category storytelling.
  • Participate in design reviews, assortment meetings, and DTC planning discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong understanding of DTC, e-commerce, consumer trends, and fan-driven product.
  • Strong graphic design and concept-development skills.
  • Strong understanding of pop culture, entertainment, lifestyle, and consumer trends.
  • Experience designing licensed products preferred.
  • Knowledge of apparel manufacturing, screen printing, and production techniques.
  • Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and materials preferred.
  • Ability to balance creativity with commercial considerations, including pricing, margin, and production feasibility.
  • Strong visual storytelling and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and respond to changing consumer trends and business priorities.
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, time management, and creative development.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working across Design, Marketing, Merchandising, E-Commerce, Licensing, and Product Development.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in apparel, graphic design, product design, or a related consumer-product environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; InDesign proficiency required.
  • Experience designing products for e-commerce or direct-to-consumer channels strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a PLM system preferred.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design, trend interpretation, consumer relevance, and commercially viable product development required.

Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., with additional hours as needed based on business demands and product launch timelines.
