Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Pay: Competitive pay based on education and/or experience plus evening and weekend shift differential and $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Days: Monday through Friday; rotating Saturdays

Hours: 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. (EVENINGS)

Position:

The primary objective of this position is to inspect samples, reagents and supplies received in the laboratory to ensure that each conforms to established acceptance criteria. Accession samples in the client services area of the SafeTrace Blood Bank Software and centrifuge, de-cap and sort samples to prepare for infectious disease testing.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with some college experience strongly desired
  • Experience working in a medical laboratory is preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow appropriate Standard Operating Procedures
  • Accession all Donor, Non-Donor, and Client samples in the SafeTrace system
  • Label donor, non-donor, and client samples according to SOP
  • Inspect all donor, non-donor, and client samples to determine if they meet testing acceptability requirements
  • Sort and route donor samples to the appropriate location
  • Sort, file and route non-donor samples and test request forms to the appropriate location
  • Sort and route client samples to the appropriate location
  • Centrifuge, de-cap and sort samples for testing
  • Perform Maintenance on centrifuges
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Locate specimens which require further testing
  • Scan samples into program for archiving
  • Discard samples as required
  • Communicate all accessioning issues to the Supervisor/Lead/Laboratory Technician
  • Assist the Supervisor/Lead/Laboratory Technician investigating and resolving accessioning issues
  • Serve as a client service representative for the Testing Lab
  • Inform Clients/OBI of any testing issues
  • Address all Rees (Central Monitoring System) alarms appropriately.
  • Prepare supplies/barcodes and ship to Clients
  • Answer telephone
  • Inspect reagents and supplies that are received in the testing laboratory
  • Label reagents and supplies with date received and status
  • Store reagents and supplies in the appropriate location
  • Be available to work hours according to draw/clients and rotate weekends/holidays
  • Perform additional duties as needed
