Accessibility Software information

What is accessibility software?

Accessibility software refers to computer programs and tools designed to help people with disabilities use digital devices and access digital content. These tools can include screen readers for the visually impaired, speech recognition software, magnifiers, and alternative input devices for those with mobility challenges. Accessibility software ensures that websites, applications, and documents are usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities. It plays a crucial role in creating an inclusive digital environment and complying with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

How does an Accessibility Software Engineer typically collaborate with designers and product managers to ensure digital accessibility?

Accessibility Software Engineers work closely with designers and product managers during the early stages of product development to identify potential accessibility barriers and propose inclusive solutions. They often participate in design reviews, contribute to accessibility documentation, and provide guidance on complying with standards like WCAG. Regular communication and collaboration are key, as engineers help translate accessibility requirements into technical specifications and verify that implemented features are usable for people with disabilities. By fostering a team-wide commitment to accessibility, they help create more inclusive digital experiences.

What is the difference between Accessibility Software vs Accessibility Tester?

AspectAccessibility SoftwareAccessibility Tester
Primary RoleDevelops and implements software tools to improve accessibility featuresEvaluates and tests software for accessibility compliance and usability
Required SkillsProgramming, software development, understanding of accessibility standardsTesting methodologies, knowledge of accessibility guidelines, attention to detail
Work EnvironmentSoftware development teams, tech companies, assistive technology firmsQuality assurance teams, testing labs, tech companies

Accessibility Software focuses on creating and maintaining tools that enhance accessibility, while Accessibility Testers evaluate existing software to ensure it meets accessibility standards. Both roles are essential in making technology inclusive, often working closely within the same industry and environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Accessibility Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Accessibility Software Engineer, you need a solid understanding of web development, accessibility standards (like WCAG), and experience in inclusive design, often backed by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with assistive technologies, automated accessibility testing tools, and platforms such as ARIA, screen readers, and accessibility auditing software is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with teams and advocating for accessible solutions. These qualifications ensure digital products are usable by everyone, meeting legal standards and promoting inclusivity.

Job description

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

About the Monetization team:

Snowflake Marketplace serves as the vibrant hub which enables customers to do more with data. We are building a platform that empowers organizations to seamlessly discover, access, and build with datasets, applications, and AI agents. The monetization team owns the commerce layer of the Snowflake Marketplace — building the end-to-end transactional infrastructure and buyer/seller experiences that power how data and AI products are priced, purchased, and settled across Snowflake's global ecosystem.

AS A SENIOR FULLSTACK ENGINEER YOU WILL:

  • Build and own end-to-end full-stack features — from polished React-based checkout and billing UIs to the backend services that process, validate, and settle marketplace transactions at scale

  • Design and implement robust backend APIs and services in Java or Python that handle the lifecycle of commercial transactions: entitlements, metering, invoicing, and payment orchestration

  • Develop reusable, accessible React component libraries and frontend systems that give buyers and sellers clear visibility into usage, spend, and revenue — working closely with design to deliver intuitive experiences

  • Contribute to the reliability, correctness, and observability of high-stakes transactional pipelines — including fraud prevention, idempotency guarantees, and audit logging

  • Collaborate with product, operations, and Billing teams to model and evolve the data schemas and APIs that underpin Snowflake’s Marketplace.

  • Participate actively in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning; raise the bar for engineering quality across the Monetization team

  • Identify gaps in test coverage, monitoring, and operational tooling for transactional workflows and drive improvements proactively

OUR IDEAL SENIOR FULLSTACK ENGINEER WILL HAVE:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of shipping customer-facing features on production systems

  • Strong React proficiency — experience building complex, stateful UIs with component composition, hooks, state management (Redux, Zustand, or equivalent), and attention to performance and accessibility

  • Solid backend engineering skills in Java, Python, or Go — including REST/gRPC API design, relational database modeling, and experience with distributed systems or microservices

  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining transactional systems — payment processing, billing pipelines, order management, entitlements, or equivalent commerce/fintech domain

  • Comfort owning full-stack features independently: writing specs, implementing across layers, writing tests, and driving to production

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills — ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Experience shipping 0 -> 1 products

  • Familiarity with AI Coding Tools such as Claude, Cursor or similar tool

  • Familiarity with Snowflake's platform — data sharing, Snowpark, or the Data Cloud ecosystem.

  • Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, or modern frontend testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Vitest)

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
