Job Description
SUMMARY: The Accessibility Manager leads company-wide efforts on making our products accessible per various external stakeholder guidelines, notably those adopted by state and federal agencies, and those embodied in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
This role will lead efforts to define business and functional requirements to build the company's systems and products, focusing on accessibility that can be delivered across multiple platforms. Develop a company-wide accessibility vision and go-forward execution strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Understands and articulates the business vision, problem definition, and opportunity by documenting business requirements, use cases and functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary management team in prioritizing requirements and developing a phased-development approach with the project team(s) to meet both short- and long-term accessibility needs;
  • Integrates new workflows within the product development lifecycle to meet accessibility requirements for online curriculum, interactive media, and mobile-enabled products;
  • Interfaces with any third-party accessibility experts or expert organizations with whom K12 is partnering;
  • Provides recommendations to incorporate accessibility into various tools and processes within the organization;
  • Builds a thorough understanding of market status and trends in accessibility, including policies and best practices;
  • Maintains fluency in state-specific accessibility requirements and their impact on K12's curriculum and processes;
  • Provides central coordination for all accessibility-related business and infrastructure requirements for Product Development initiatives;
  • Creates plans to promote adoption of accessibility features and measure their impact on adoption and compliance;
  • Provides experience in business-case development, functional product development, and technical implementation of accessibility products;
  • Works across Product Development and the technical teams to establish thorough requirements for systems/products;
  • Ensures requirements are documented, traceable, and testable through to implementation;
  • Interface directly with internal (Product Development) and external (throughout the Company) stakeholders to ensure that requirements are accurately articulated;
  • Serves as the decision-maker for issues raised under K12's Web Accessibility Policy;
  • Communicate with colleagues and the departments to ensure theproduct remains true to stated goals of functional requirements throughout product development.
  • Ensures compliance with WCAG requirements through resources, awareness, training, and updated materials
  • Provides recommendations and completes assessments as requested by internal business units
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in Computer Science or Education or
Experience of 3-5 years in educational technology/publishing with an emphasis on web accessibility OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CAPCC) or other advanced experience in web accessibility work in publishing and web design.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $77,694.00 - $83,000.00 per year. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
